Steve Woods retires from Buzz Electrical after 21 years’ service

Steve Woods, Chief Test & Inspection Engineer with Buzz Electrical Ltd has recently retired after working for the company for 21 years.

Steve(pictured above right) started at Buzz in 1999 as a qualifying supervisor when there was just him and Managing Director and Buzz founder Steve Owens (pictured above left).

Steve Owens said “Steve is a highly valued member of the team and will be greatly missed by all of us. He is incredibly loyal, experienced and professional and has been a great example to others within the company as he always takes great pride in his work and has wanted to stay with us for so long”

A few years ago, Buzz set up their own technical division Buzz Technical to oversee periodic inspection and testing as well as the testing and certification of their electrical work, Steve Woods was instrumental in his involvement with this and has helped grow this part of the business. Buzz provide complete Testing and Inspection services, giving clients detailed reports on the conditions of their electrical installations. AnElectrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) will indicate if there are any electrical circuits or devices that are overloaded, expose any possible electrical shock threats or fire hazards, unearth any faulty electrical work previously carried out, and much more.

All homeowners are advised to have an EICR carried out at least once every ten years and business premises should be tested every three to five years.

Due to a change in the law this summer (The Electrical Safety Standards in the Private Rented Sector (England) Regulations 2020), new regulations require landlords to have the electrical installations in their properties inspected at least every 5 years and tested by a person who is qualified and competent.Landlords will also have to provide a copy of the electrical safety report to their tenants as well as to the local authority if requested.
